Check this out so you can see all those shenanigans that are happening on this oh so professional episode. Alright. So let's get into it.
Let's say you've got a business and let's say you want to expand. What's one key aspect that you need to understand or get so that you know that you're ready for expansion? I call it consistency.
If you've got a good business and let's say you're doing some good things, you should get a consistent approach to your business. A good look, a good feel and a good culture.
If you've got those three good things and it's under pin by good financials. Are you making good money and you feel that scalable then it's time to explore it.
So my wife, this is her business and I will show you around. So we'll go through in here as well and I'll keep talking. So she had a pretty good part time business and then she started to commit.
Now I'll show you around behind here so this is now the studio. So she got two studios here in this particular location and now she's got a third one down the road and then another two in another suburb.
So what happened with her is she had one good studio that filled up really quickly and then she felt it's time to expand. So when do you know it's a good time to expand when you got consistency look, feel, culture.
So if you've to look at this one studio here it's got a consistent look, you know, we've got this beautiful wood floors with the blue mats and the equipment and then nice looking, on this side mirrors in the sides and so to expand quite simply keep that look and that feel.
Now typically, Pilates studios and Yoga studios if you've been to them it can be quite healerish and quite unprofessional so my wife is very good at keeping things very professional and really good look so that was the look box and that was ticked and that was the feel box as well.
So when clients come into the studio there's a feel in here. It's a beautiful location so on a major street (where can I show you I can't see it through the doors). It's in the major location here in Adelaide major suburb.
The demographics are great, it's quite an excellent suburb. And so the people that come in here, it's just a great match for the demographics and what it is that they are looking for. So then it was about expanding it and these three tools that you can use to work out how to expand your business a lot more successfully.
Number one is your database. Get on your database and then get on to, go through it. Have a look at demographics, what's the age, what's the sex of your top customers then take that database and use.
I think it's called batchgeo. It's online where you can upload your database into this cloud system and then it will map that out for you and you can see where your customers are coming from that will helps a number of areas.
Number one, it shows you where they are so you can tag your market to them a lot more effectively. But in the terms of expanding you can pinpoint what suburb they are in and then you can go to the government sites or a site like demographics online to find out what the demographics, the characteristics of that particular suburb or suburbs.
So then you can then target similar suburbs with similar demographics in other areas that you can expand into. 'Coz if you've got a similar demographics to another location you should expect similar results and that's where those tools can come in. One, your database, two, demographics online and batchgeo.
Another good tool you can use as well is just your location. So if you've got a location that's going well for you write down the characteristics of that location.
Is it on a major street? What position on the street is that on? Is it on the fourth level? Is it on the second level? First level? Where might that be? What are the other shops on that street?
So for example, post office, maybe bank, hairdressers, maybe shopping centers. So get the key things that are on your street or in that area that your business is on and you get a bit of a profile.
So for example if you can see a brand chain or a franchise on the street that you're in they would typically had done this site selection based on similar demographics so it's very easy.
So for example, Endota Spa, if you could find an Endota Spa or it could be a McDonalds or it could be, so McDonalds as an example. McDonalds did a lot of site selection earlier on a day.
So what did Hungry Jacks do, what did the KFC do. They just put up their places right next to them close to them. Mcdonalds already have done the hard work.
So when you have a successful location, see who else is a prior in that location. And if there are franchise or if there are major brand they have done this site selection homework and then go to their site, find out where their other locations are and it's probably a good match for your market and for your expansion.
So there you go. Here's a couple of tips here for expanding your business if you've got an offline business. Offline is awesome, it's not dead. Online also, it's got a huge potential. But I know a few of you got online businesses, offline businesses as well. So one that caters to you.
So I hope you enjoy this 11th episode. If you like it, please comment, share, tag all the people that you know would like to hear this and I'd love to hear for them as well.
So thank you very much for tuning in on this 11th show. We'll get to you on the 12th. You take care. This is Casey Gollan, I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
