Hi, there and welcome back! This is episode number two in The #ADD10GROWSHOW. Now, I'm gonna take you through the three areas that I typically worked most with for clients and that is TIME, TEAM and MONEY.
Time
I'm gonna start off with TIME. I'm gonna give you three ways you can get more time and get better productivity out of your day, every day, every week, every month, every year. So, let's get into it.
So let me start with giving you an idea of why you might be pressed with time particularly, if you are past the startup phase of business. In startup phase of business, usually what happens is you come to the business and you put a little money and you got a lot of time.
So what do you use to save that money? You use your time. So, you start off and you do everything. Okay? So, you might do the ads, you might do the product, you might do the selling, you might do most of everything.
Now, that's great when you got a lot of time and you got a little bit of money. That's a good equation to have. But as you grow and you get bigger, guess what happens? You get customers.
You can't just work on all the things you started on when you start your business. All of a sudden there are other responsibilities. It might be a new staff, new product ranges, your updates. It could be expanding your team, it could be leading your team, it could be getting more locations, it could be any of those.
Now, if you continue to do what you did when you started it up, you're gonna run out of time. And that usually what happens as you, your money is like this and your time is like that. And all of a sudden if you are successful, your time goes BANG! And all of a sudden, you're stressed.
Money
And hopefully, your money is going up. If your money is going up, it's easy. You just buy time - that's the senseless that you wanna be able to. You use your time to create strategies that make you money.
What happens is, as you create those strategies, your time goes down particularly in your start-up phase. And then what should happen is your money goes up. So, you take that money, you stick it back to buy time.
How do you buy time?
There are two ways, basically, through people and through systems. So let's go back. So, you start off and you got a lot of time, got a little bit of money, start getting busy, your time gets crunched and hopefully you are making money.
If you make money, you buy it. But if you are not, you are in trouble. You got low money, low time. Alright? This is in a different episode, we need to cover this. You need to go all along in creating a money. Okay? Will take that into another episode. Let's just stay in this one.
So, your time's crunched. So, what are the three ways?
Now, you've been successful and you got through the start up and might have few team members, you might have a lot of customers and you are getting crunched and you are frustrated and you are looking for ways to get better at these three areas.
Three main areas that will work on with clients.
- Yourself.
- Your staff.
- Systems.
Pretty simple. It's always simple. The answers are always simple. You just gotta find what that simple answer is because you've got to fix it really quickly. So, let's go through them.
Yourself
Number 1, yourself. What you got to work on? The things that you work on when you were on start up and you had a lot of time that's not, that got you to here. Okay? From start up to here, that's great but to get to there it's totally different focus, it's totally different skill set and it's totally different mindset.
So what you worked on to get your business to where it's now does not necessarily got what's it's gonna be what you need to work on to get to there even though you might be trying.
And some of you will be trying, trying, trying. You just keep heading the ceiling just because you are doing the same thing, you are getting the same result. So what we need to do is change what you worked on with yourself.
The Challenge
So, for example, what are you working on each and every day? For the next seven days, just start at the morning and then by the end of the day, write down what you've been working on, and then what you've been working on, and then what you've been working on, and then I want you to color it.
Red or green. Red is working IN the business. That's IN business activity. Green is ON business activity. See, what you need to knew from, at the start here, you are doing the work. And you are probably taking pride of what it is you do.
When you start to get time crunched and you start to make some money, hopefully. What you need to do on this side is you need to work on the business. So instead of priding your job or what you do or what you provide, you gonna have pride in your business.
So this is about working in the business and delivering the things for the customers. On this side, it's about building a business, building a process, building the systems, building the people, building the engagement with your customers so you can create a business that runs with their achievement by building a team that builds your business.
So, after seven days, red for in, green for on and I'll give you an idea of what you're at in terms of what you're focusing on for yourself. So yourself. Next one is your staff.
Staff
Number 1, have you got staff? If you've got staff, you've got a team that's awesome.
Now, what I want you to do with them is work on what are you doing with them to other help them working the business or help or get them to work in the business 'because if you're the only one working on your business, in your business, guess what happens to your time? It gets crunched.
This is the key thing for a lot of people who read The E-Myth Revisited. It's going back few years ago but it's called pretty much called that term or made it famous anyway who worked in the business and on the business. People read that book and then they taught, great and it systemised the business.
So guess who systemised the business? The business owner. Well guess what happens to the business on that time who owned did not much have time, gets crunched. What you gonna do when you get people and your business is get them to create a system rather than you. Get then create a system 'because you want to build a business, for build itself.
By building a team, you build your business and to help you do that you get the people in your business to be able to create the systems for your business and when you get through that stages but that's a bit of tips.
So, self, team. Next one is systems.
Systems
The systems of the process. It could be software, it could be going from, let's say for example, MYOB, a couple of years ago to now 0 and having thing, having a virtual bookkeeper can log in anytime. You have things like receipt bank that just sends invoices straight to 0.
So you don't need the process them you need an admin person to be toppings stuffing to your accounting system. It could be other software tools, it could be an automated marketing, it could be systems that documented by a team, it could be bigger equipment, it could be let's say for example, a printing business.
Printing business might have a printer this big they might get a printer than big that's got better capacity to send out more work that's a lot it's just an example for systems.
So staff, self, systems - 3 ways you can get more time in your business. Are there other absolutely within those and that's obviously what we work with my clients. But that's a good start to help you get some more money.
The Challenge
So this is a challenge for you, the next seven days get a sheet of paper, seven columns, and get a color, what did I worked on for each of those different days and is it red activity or green activity. Red is in, green is on and I'll give you an idea on how much you working on the business.
Now if you work on the business, you're building a process and that process the purpose of that is to liberate you from being in the business.
So you can take it to the next level which I know you wanna do. You wanna move from here, go from here to here. You wanna go to there, and wherever they might be, it could be tens of millions, it could be a million, it could be a couple of hundred thousands. Whatever that is, we're gonna work smarter with yourself, with your team, with your systems.
Goodluck!
